Linda Walker fishing near
her home in Minnesota
Linda Walker was a wildlife and animal painter who worked primarily in oils. After a life of living in southern California she moved with her husband to northern Minnesota. Linda passed away September 26, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. She was a fine woman and a good friend. I shall miss her very much.
Linda was the vice president of Women Artists of the West and a signature member of the Wildlife Artists Association. She was an associate/artist member of such prestigious artist associations as Oil Painters of America, National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and the California Art Club.
Linda Walker illustrated the first three books I wrote: ABC POETRY, CHEROOT, and ON THE FARM. And yet, she was not an illustrator by vocation. She was, however, my friend and when I needed help getting started it was to Linda that I turned. Rather, Linda Walker was a fabulous fine art award winning painter of note. She had many times been a featured artist at wildlife art shows and often won top awards in competitions and been extended invitations to exhibitions such as the Artists for the New Century & San Bernardino, Reflections of Nature & San Dimas Wildlife Festivals. She also participated as signature and artist member of several art associations. She was a Member Emeritus and volunteer on the board of Women Artists of the West (WAOW) as co-chair of membership and had built and maintained their private forum.
Her work can be seen in art galleries and both private and corporate collections across the nation. Her images may be found in books such as Best of the West Artists II and in articles in various art magazines such as Wildlife Art Magazine and Informart.
With a resume like this, one can only imagine how grateful I was to Linda for the gracious gift of her time and talent in creating wonderful illustrations for my books and helping me so much. Thank you, Linda
